lexy, i have no idea what the name of my gammy anna’s magical tool is. i have never before or since seen one anywhere except her kitchen, and now mine.

my kids always called it “the egg wand” which i thought charming for its magical implications.

dipped in soap solution it makes a gang of fun bubbles too.

the only people who GET it deep in their hearts are feminists, and that’s why I’m proud to be among their ranks.

Amen. Obviously it’s not 100% (because nothing is), but as a general rule women who self-identify as feminists are approx. 3 million times more likely to be on my wavelength than those who don’t. It’s like a secret handshake of critical thinking ability and opinionated fuck-you-ness.

I read that you can plug a crockpot into those thing you use for programming your lights if you’re going to be away. Then as long as you’re cooking something that can sit for up to 4 hrs before it starts to cook, then it will sit there and start up by itself.

I have one of those little pots too….I fill it with water, cloves, cinnamon sticks, bay leaves, orange peels and simmer it. Works better in the winter months, people might look at you funny in July if your house smells like Christmas.

Alton Brown had a neat recipe for cooking scottish oatmeal in a crockpot overnight, so you had a tasty breakfast all ready in the morning.

Cut the recipe in fourths, and you’d have a nice size for the little pot.
